Dhigurah Island
Long Beach on the javelin-shaped Dhigurah Island in the South Ari Atoll is as popular with residents as it is with nature-loving tourists. Take a seat at one of its picnic tables and spend the day doing nothing, or go on a tour to view the whale sharks - it's the greatest site in the Maldives to watch them.
A massive lagoon protects the west side of the island and is one of the more consistent spots to see manta rays in this area, especially during the southwest monsoon. The name of the island can be immediately translated into 'Long Island' in the native language, Dhivehi, and it has the atoll's longest beach as a result. Its surrounding seas are well-known for being a whale shark haven.
The beach's bottom is sandy and suitable for swimming and perfect for children. A route through the woods extends along the southern side of the beach. The entire journey is around 3 kilometers long. The island concludes with a large sandbank leading to the nearby island of LUX South Ari.
You can grab your snorkeling gear and head into the neighboring lagoon, which is a haven for sea turtles. If you want to see them up close, the island has its own dive center, and neighboring cafes and stores provide an ambiance reminiscent of a vibrant Thai island. The locations are exceedingly attractive, and very few people visit them. The greatest amount of privacy will be granted.
