Discover craft traditional beer
Breweries have become the city's favorite pubs. Norfolk's brewery scene has become so popular an iconic. With many breweries in Norfolk, each serving something a little different, there's always a beer to suit every mood.
In Norfolk's Railroad District, there is the Chesapeake Bay-themed microbrewery, Rip Rap Brewing Company. The bay theme is incorporated into beer with names like Breakwater and Luffing Sail. Their engaging and ever-changing drink menu is created in small batches, meaning when it has gone, it has gone. Elation Brewing brings great happiness (as the name implies) to Norfolk's Larchmont neighborhood. Here you'll find black leather chairs and tall tables made from reclaimed bowling lanes. The bar itself is made of beams over 400 years old. As much as you like architecture, you'll love beer. Larchmont Lager, Note This, Rose Gose, and Highland Park Hazy are all their flagships, but the rotating taps include guest beers from around the world, cider, mead, and even all four wines on tap. A Richmond favorite opened a second facility in 2019, this time in the heart of Norfolk's burgeoning Railroad District. This three-story brewery features taps on all floors and a rooftop balcony with city views. The minimalist and contemporary interior matches the neon art on display and the garage door opens to the community.
