Downhome day trip
Plan a beautiful day excursion to the south if you have access to a car and a desire to leave the city. Visit the family-run Knaus Berry Farm for a taste of the previous Homestead with its plentiful fruit orchards and crop fields. Although you can still pick your own strawberries and tomatoes at this location, the modest bakery is where most visitors go. Knaus Berry Farm is the place to go for handcrafted fruit milkshakes, pineapple upside-down cake, and cinnamon rolls from November through April.
Before moving on to the Robert is Here Fruit Stand, pick up a half-dozen to go ($7.50) and wander around the strawberry fields. This charming roadside establishment, which specializes in unusual fruits, offers mouthwatering smoothies and milkshakes made from only the finest ingredients. Previously, all of the food was farmed nearby, and the fields behind the restaurant are still being worked by people. However, a large portion of this item is now imported, which damages its authenticity. Even so, the surrounding farmland is beautiful. For the ideal frozen treat, combine up to three flavors ($8). On the outskirts of Key Largo, Alabama Jacks is a well-known watering place and seafood restaurant with live music where you can cap off your day. This is one of cheap date ideas in Miami.
