The City of Miami Beach sponsors a free Culture Crawl every third Thursday of the month from 6 to 9 p.m. in collaboration with the area's top organizations, including the Wolfsonian-FIU, the Bass, Oolite Arts, Miami Beach Botanical Garden, and more. Choose your experience from site-specific art installations, live musical events, backstage tours, and poetry readings. You may also take a free trolley (the white ones). Start off your elegant evening at the charmingly sleazy dive club Mac's Club Deuce with two-for-one happy hour cocktails (until 7pm). The Deuce draws the most diverse, hippest, and spookiest audience of any bar in Miami, including transsexual hookups, down-and-out locals, glitterati from nightclubs, and slumming celebrities. Fill up on a sandwich from La Sandwicherie that is filled to the brim. The original gourmet sandwich shop in South Beach serves an eclectic mix of clubgoers, drinkers, limo drivers, tattoo artists, and anyone else who enjoys a well-made prosciutto and mozzarella, ham and turkey, or veggie sandwich on a fresh baguette. It is second only to Pizza Rustica for late-night bingeing.
