Dragon Boat Festival
Although the Dragon Boat Races are also held in Hong Kong, the one in Macau is unique and must be seen to be believed. The Macao Dragon Boat Festival culminates in an epic struggle of strength and stamina as numerous boats compete for first place. The festival honors Wat Yuen, a courageous poet who bravely resisted corruption by drowning himself. The races that take place on the Nam Van Lake today are a living memorial to Wat Yuen's bravery. Become a part of the tumultuous atmosphere as the teams battle it out to the finish line!
You'll want to watch the spectacular races from beginning to conclusion. The races will feature both foreign and local teams competing to determine the champion and they are not exclusively for men, women attend the competition as well. The Dragon Boat Festival is a national holiday in China. It’s like a day off for the general population and most schools and businesses are closed to enjoy the event.
