Easter Island (also known as Rapa Nui) is one of the world's most isolated islands, and its volcanic topography makes for superb diving. Under the calm seas that encircle Easter Island, divers will encounter caverns, arches, cliffs, and an abundance of lava platforms. On most days, visibility may exceed 60m, and while there isn't much coral reef to be seen, there are lots of colorful tropical fish swimming about. You could even see a whale or a green sea turtle if you're lucky. It is the best dive destination in Chile.
Easter Island scuba diving sites: The dive spots are all near Hanga Roa Harbour, and you'll spend no more than 10 minutes on a boat before plunging into the seas of Easter Island. Acantilado (The Cliff) is a fantastic place to start since it is covered with volcanic limestone and juvenile coral. Try the Moai Site, which has a submerged 25-foot-tall moai statue, or The Church, a renowned lava tube where you can explore buildings and tunnels that resemble a vast cathedral.
