El Oriental de Cuba

Since 1994, El Oriental de Cuba has brought the flavors of Cuba to the neighborhood of Jamaica Plain. With one of the most impressive menus in the city, this restaurant delivers on its authenticity. This spot in Jamaica Plain is divided into two dining rooms, vibrant colors and a permanent display of paintings by renounced Cuban Artists complement the tropical ambiance. Every day the restaurant serves a very diverse ethnicity of clientèle, who through the dishes, experience something that they have called “A Cuban Dining Experience”, which takes them back to Cuban roots.

El Oriental de Cuba makes really big plates of Cuban specialties, and the flaky, oily empanadas might be the best in a neighborhood that has a lot of empanadas. They don’t have a liquor license, but that just makes it a good place to go when you’re not trying to spend too much money. The seemingly ubiquitous cubano sandwich is the real thing here, while the fresh fruit shakes and fried yucca, or cassava, are also worth trying as well. El Oriental de Cuba is definitely worth visiting, and is only a short train ride away from Boston’s downtown.
