Prior to July 2000, it went under the names Helsingin Puhelin and Elisa Communications Oyj, respectively. Elisa is a Finnish and Estonian-based provider of telecoms, information and communications technology, and online services. However, it also provides digital services to other businesses and foreign operators. In terms of subscriptions to fixed and mobile networks in Finland, Elisa is the market leader.
