The Herlin family has had authority over Kone since 1924. In 1924, Harald Herlin bought the business, and he remained as its chairman up until 1941. Heikki H. Herlin, his son, succeeded him as president from 1941 to 1987. Pekka Herlin joined Kone in 1954 and took over as president of the company in 1964. Its chairman since 2003 is Antti Herlin, Pekka Herlin's son. Antti Herlin, whose shares are listed on Nasdaq Helsinki, has 62% of the voting rights and 22% of the company's shares as of December 2019.
