The name and logo were conceived during the early stages of the Coastal Plain Conservancy (CPC), a non-profit whose mission is to preserve the lands that define the distinctive landscape of the coastal plains. Tall native prairie grasses once covered Louisiana's southern plains. Long leaf pines were found all the way from Virginia to East Texas. Squirrels would be able to travel the expanse without ever touching the ground thanks to these pines. Wild bison roamed the area before man, but only for a short time. These images inspired Empire of the Seed and its distinct logo. These images inspired Empire of the Seed and its distinct logo.
The two buildings serve as a home for creative people, functions, and projects dedicated to the preservation and creation of cultural events. A farmers' market, art shows, weddings, social gatherings, and public service development initiatives for Lake Charles' downtown and lakefront are examples of such events.
