Enterprise Data Management
The cornerstone to successful business management is high-quality information. Managers struggle to gather information that helps them make decisions, despite the vast amount of data generated by firms. While operational processing systems help organizations acquire, store, and manage data to support day-to-day operations, reconciliation systems — also known as data warehouses or business intelligence (BI) systems — enable firms analyze data and make better decisions.
Organizations have turned to corporate data management frameworks to manage and get insights from the large amounts of data generated since the introduction of big data platforms. While storage costs are generally low, the major difficulty has been determining the best way to handle the data, as many technologies (e.g., relational databases, data warehouses) have limits on the amount of data that can be kept.
Enterprise Data Management course focuses on maximizing the business value and potential of operational, reconciled, and big data systems, as well as data assets, in order to enable enterprise data management and analytics.
