Exploring the Land O' Lakes

In the northern portion of Wisconsin, between Boulder Junction, Eagle River, and Rhinelander, sits the magnificent Land o' Lakes region. With almost 200 pristine lakes of all sizes, it is incredibly well-liked by fans of water sports. The area, which is fantastic to explore by canoe or kayak, is especially beloved by campers and backpackers. Highlights include its diverse flora and fauna, excellent fishing, and opportunities for bird watching, including the chance to see some of the area's last few white-tailed eagles. The town of Eagle River is a wonderful starting point for exploring the area and offers a range of activities, including cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter and fishing, boating, hiking, biking, and swimming in the summer.

There is in fact, significance to names. The Cisco Chain of Lakes is one of more than 100 stunning lakes in Land O' Lakes. The fishing in these 15 interconnected lakes is world-renowned. The world-record tiger musky was caught in the beautiful waters of Lac Vieux Desert, another noteworthy lake. You can find good fishing in Land O' Lakes if you're looking for it.

It would be simple to rename Land O' Lakes as "Land O' Trails." Some of the best hiking and bicycling in the Northwoods can be found on the 12-mile bike/pedestrian trail in the community. The neighborhood serves as a well-liked starting place for excursions along the forest trails that go through the Sylvania Wilderness. Mountain bikers, birdwatchers, and basic campers are drawn to this beautiful section of forest.
