Visiting Wisconsin State Capitol
The Wisconsin Supreme Court, the Office of the Governor, and both chambers of the Wisconsin legislature are all located in the Wisconsin State Capitol, which is situated in Madison, Wisconsin. The building, which was finished in 1917, is the third to be used as the state capitol since Wisconsin was granted statehood in 1848 and the fifth to act as the Wisconsin capitol since the first territory assembly met in 1836. Legislation that forbids the construction of structures taller than the columns encircling the dome has protected the Wisconsin State Capitol's status as Madison's tallest building (187 feet). The Madison Isthmus' westernmost point is where the Capitol is situated. Capitol Square, a gathering place for numerous eateries and stores, is formed by the streets that encircle the structure.
With many of its key attractions in the city center, Madison offers many compelling reasons to visit. The Wisconsin State Capitol is among the most beautiful. The building's best interior elements, including its enormous murals, superb marble work, and elegant rotunda with its states and monuments, are all included in daily, free tours that last an hour. On the sixth floor, there is a fascinating museum on the structure's history that is well worth seeing. The Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center, which Frank Lloyd Wright designed, offers one of the most incredible views of the capital.
