Facets Cinematheque is for serious film connoisseurs seeking screenings of more obscure and little-seen features presented nowhere else in Chicagoland. Two screening rooms show foreign, art and experimental films that cannot be seen anywhere else, even at the Film Center of the Art Institute of Chicago.
It also features director retrospectives, interviews, discussions and exclusive premieres. The theater also hosts several film festivals each year, including the Chicago Children’s Film Festival and the Chicago Latino Film Festival. In addition, Facets Cinematheque is equally as celebrated for its huge Videotheque. It maintains an unparalleled movie rental library of 65,000 titles, available to rent in person or by online nationwide mail-order.
