Logan Theatre
The Logan Theatre opened in 1915 as the Paramount Theatre, a single-screen cinema. It was acquired by the Vaselopolis family in 1922. The previous owner, Chris Vaselopolis, was born in the Theatre structure and devoted his life to preserving his family's legacy through the Theatre's illuminated screens. The Logan Theatre served as the shooting location for the Will Ferrell-starring movie Stranger than Fiction in 2006.
The newly renovated theater in Logan Square has a new sound system, screens, and projectors, but perhaps the best feature is a lobby bar and lounge that hosts activities like live comedy and movie trivia. In addition to a diverse selection of midnight screenings every weekend, you'll also find a variety of second-run studio films and independent films.
Amazing details of the Theatre's original architecture and design that had been hidden by years of plaster were made visible during the renovations. When you visit the theater, you'll be in awe of its beautifully restored stained glass arch over the entrance, its newly restored marble walls, and a decorative relief panel from its opulent 1915 interior. The box office, concession area, and lobby have been expanded and remodeled with Art Deco details reminiscent of the original décor.
