The Music Box Theatre, one of the best movie theaters in Chicago, is aptly named due to its dainty, jewel-like characteristics. It was built in the neo-Georgian style, which is more akin to a dignified manor or country home than the typical theatrical style of most other Broadway playhouses, and was designed by architect Charles Howard Crane in partnership with E. The Logan Theatre opened in 1915 as the Paramount Theatre, a single-screen cinema. It was acquired by the Vaselopolis family in 1922. The previous owner, Chris Vaselopolis, was born in the Theatre structure and devoted his life to preserving his family's legacy through the Theatre's illuminated screens. The Logan Theatre served as the shooting location for the Will Ferrell-starring movie Stranger than Fiction in 2006.

The newly renovated theater in Logan Square has a new sound system, screens, and projectors, but perhaps the best feature is a lobby bar and lounge that hosts activities like live comedy and movie trivia. In addition to a diverse selection of midnight screenings every weekend, you'll also find a variety of second-run studio films and independent films.

Amazing details of the Theatre's original architecture and design that had been hidden by years of plaster were made visible during the renovations. When you visit the theater, you'll be in awe of its beautifully restored stained glass arch over the entrance, its newly restored marble walls, and a decorative relief panel from its opulent 1915 interior. The box office, concession area, and lobby have been expanded and remodeled with Art Deco details reminiscent of the original décor.

This theater, which is run by the School of the Art Institute and is named in memory of the late Chicago film critic, presents a variety of films, including independent, foreign, and well-known classics. It was a Movie Palace, designed for the talkies and Vaudeville shows. The theater, newly reopened in December 2016 after extensive renovations, features first-run films on three screens. The revamped theater includes an attached restaurant and bar, Carbon Arc Bar & Board, with an impressive cocktail menu, 26 beers on tap and an extensive wine list—all of which can come with you into your movie.

The Davis Theatre is a downtown landmark and is one of only a handful of such theatre spaces still standing across the South. The acoustics are excellent, and with twelve-hundred seats, the size is perfect. It has a full-size orchestra pit, and the stage is easily seen from any seat in the house. There is a feeling of intimacy long since sacrificed in modern theatre design.

The theatre hosts amateur and professional musicals, dramatic productions, chamber music groups, symphony orchestras, dance groups, ballets and instrumental performances of all types.
