Falcon Lake

Southeast Manitoba, Canada's Whiteshell Provincial Park is home to Falcon Lake. The lake is located close to the Ontario border on the Trans-Canada Highway about 152 kilometers east of Winnipeg. Pierre Falcon, a Métis poet, and musician has the lake given his name (1793–1876). It can be seen on the 1865 Palliser map.

Although the fictional town of Falcon Beach is based on a different Manitoba lake, the lake served as the inspiration for the show's name. In addition, Neil Young, who wrote the song "Falcon Lake" while playing with Buffalo Springfield, made the lake one of his favorite summertime destinations.

With good reason, Falcon Lake is one of Whiteshell Provincial Park's busiest lakes. The lake is big and well-liked for leisurely boating and hunting down the elusive fishing hot spot. Its shoreline is peppered with beaches, which offer sand oases along the primarily forested, privately owned shorelines. Falcon Lake is the only place to look. Children of all ages can play safely in the calm, warm water and expansive, curved beach.
