With its roots in Canada and its main office in the US, Flickr is an American image and video hosting website and online community. It was developed by Ludicorp in 2004 and quickly became a well-liked method for both amateur and expert photographers to store high-resolution images. SmugMug has held it since April 20, 2018, after a number of ownership changes.
Flickr had 112 million registered members as of June 10, 2015, with over 3.5 million new images uploaded everyday. The site reported storing more than 6 billion images on August 5, 2011. Flickr allows you to view photos and videos without creating an account, but you must create one to submit content to the site. Registering an account also allows users to create a profile page with photos and videos that they have submitted, as well as add another Flickr user as a contact. Flickr has approved mobile apps for iOS and Android, as well as a mobile-optimized website.
