Gene Simmons
Gene Simmons is an Israeli-American singer-songwriter and musician. He is the bassist and co-lead vocalist of Kiss, the rock band he co-founded with Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley, and Peter Criss in the early 1970s. He is also known on stage as The Demon.
On January 28, 2011, Simmons hosted the Aces & Angels Salute to the Troops charity event in Dallas, Texas. Simmons was given the key to the city, and a boulevard was named after him. As part of the Aces & Angels event, Simmons and Tweed paid a visit to the US Army post at Fort Hood to show their support for the military. He was granted the key to the city of Winnipeg, Manitoba, on June 15, the same year. Revolver magazine bestowed the Golden God award to Simmons in 2012. The Smithsonian National Museum of American History welcomed an autographed Gene Simmons Axe bass from John Upshaw Downs into their collection in 2013.
Little Kids Rock, a nationwide charity that strives to rehabilitate and revive music instruction in impoverished U.S. public schools, has Simmons on its honorary board. The piece was aired on A&E's Gene Simmons Family Jewels, which visited a Little Kids Rock school. With his son Nick, he also adorned a guitar for sale. The Reial Circle Artistic de Barcelona gave Simmons the Golden Medal on December 15, 2014.
