Gilera

Gilera is an Italian motorcycle manufacturer founded in 1909 by Giuseppe Gilera. Initially, the company produced bicycles and automotive components, but in the 1930s, Gilera made its foray into the motorcycle world.

During the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s, Gilera motorcycles, ridden by legendary racers such as Geoff Duke and Umberto Masetti, secured numerous world championships across various racing classes, particularly the coveted 500cc class. This impressive racing record elevated Gilera to a prominent position in motorcycle racing.

Gilera's iconic models include the Gilera Saturno, celebrated for its unique styling and powerful single-cylinder engine, and the futuristic Gilera CX series, known for its avant-garde designs and advanced aerodynamics during the 1980s. However, the brand experienced a shift in focus when the Piaggio Group acquired it in the late 1960s. Under Piaggio's ownership, Gilera's attention turned away from racing and more towards producing scooters and small-capacity motorcycles.

Nowadays, Gilera has been recognized for its sporty scooters like the Gilera Runner and Gilera Nexus. These scooters are renowned for their stylish designs and energetic engines, blending urban mobility with a touch of sportiness. Although Gilera's presence has primarily been in the scooter market, the brand has occasionally ventured into limited-production models and concept bikes.
