Gintama

A manga created and illustrated by Hideaki Sorachi is the inspiration for the anime series Gintama. Sunrise Studios created the anime adaption, which includes several seasons with various names. The first season of the anime series Gintama ran in Japan from April 2006 to March 2010, and the subsequent seasons were Gintama' (airing from April 2011 to September 2012), Gintama': Enchousen (airing from October 2012 to March 2013), Gintama° (airing from April 2015 to March 2016), Gintama. (airing from January to March 2017), and Gintama. : Silver Soul Arc (airing from January to October 2018). A number of Gintama movies and OVAs (original video animations) are also available to accompany the series.

The plot takes place in a different iteration of feudal Japan where aliens going by the name of Amanto have invaded and seized power. Despite this, there are still samurai, and the main character, Gintoki Sakata, used to be one before transitioning to a freelancer. Together with his companions Shinpachi Shimura and Kagura, they do odd occupations and engage in a variety of comical and exciting escapades.
