Good Cognac and Wine
Everyone in Armenia appears to make their own wine and collect their own honey. The wine-making tradition has been going on for 6,000 years, so it's pretty much ingrained in Armenian culture to make and drink wine, regardless of wealth. Armenian wines are gradually making their way onto the global wine scene. Wine country tours are now available, allowing visitors to sample unique roses, crisp whites, full-bodied areni, robust pinots, sweet ice wines, and pomegranate wines from the many valleys.
Armenian cognac is the only drink in the world to be labeled as such, despite the fact that it is not produced in the French province of Cognac. It was a favorite drink of Churchill and Stalin and is still highly valued around the world. Take a tour of the Ararat cognac factory in Yerevan, where you can learn about the distillery process, sample a few varieties, and purchase bottles to take home.
