Gouyave River
The Gouyave River is a Grenada river that flows through the parish of St Johns. A metal bridge spans the river as you approach Gouyave from the south, and the coastal road passes to the west of Windsor Park before entering the town.
The Gouyave River flows inland through the Branch family's Dougaldston Estate. From the bridge, a narrow footpath continues inward along the south side of the river, through the Dougaldston Cemetery, to the estate itself, previously one of the island's most prestigious estates and the birthplace of former British politician Sir Geoffrey de Freitas.
Coming to this river, you will experience the feeling of sailing at high speed. Cruises on boats will relieve you from the stress of work and daily life. Travel here is mainly by boat or raft. Residents are very friendly. People often invite tourists to eat and drink and gather along the banks of the river or right at the boat. You will be served with a variety of local specialties. This is one of longest rivers in Grenada.
