Grande-Terre
Everything is about enchantment and discovery from north to south. Known as a beautiful island in Guadeloupe, Grande-Terre, located in the heart of the sugar cane industry, has a rich history.
Do you like to unwind? White sand beaches with beautifully shaded areas greet you. Grande-Terre is situated on a huge limestone plateau surrounded by magnificent beaches, turquoise lagoons, incredible surfing areas, and stunning scenery. Sugar cane plantations, which span the majority of the island, thrive on this plateau. It is known for its warm Caribbean nights and many restaurants and hotels that line the Riviera bore evidence of the Art of French-Creole Cuisine.
The island of Grande-Terre is low-lying and devoid of rivers. The dry climate is characterized by sandy soils and scrub forest vegetation. Sugarcane is grown, as well as livestock. Pointe-à-Pitre, on the island's southwestern coast, is the capital and economic center of Guadeloupe. Minorities of European and East Indian (South Asian) ancestry make up the majority of the population, which is black and of mixed race.
