Guarapiranga Reservoir

The Guarapiranga Reservoir (Represa de Guarapiranga) is a reservoir in the southern part of the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo and city of So Paulo. The So Paulo Tramway, Light and Power Company, popularly known as "Light," which was in charge of the region's electrical energy supply at the time, built the Reservoir of Guarapiranga in 1906. Guarapiranga was first used as a reservoir for the delivery of potable water in 1928. After Itaipu, Guarapiranga has the second-largest volume of water in all the reservoirs in Brazil. It is one of the city of So Paulo's main sources of fresh water.

It is a crucial body of water in the So Paulo metropolitan region as it serves as the primary reservoir for the water system serving So Paulo.

Summertime visitors will like the reservoir and its surroundings since they may go bird viewing, canoeing, fishing, and hiking. One of the most stunning locations in Brazil is Guarapiranga Reservoir, which has some islands you may visit.
