Harvard University

Harvard University, located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, is a private Ivy League research university. It is the oldest school of higher learning in the United States and one of the most famous in the world, having been founded in 1636 as Harvard College and named for its first patron, the Puritan preacher John Harvard. Harvard University is a big, residential research university with 50 undergraduate majors, 134 graduate degrees, and 32 professional degrees. Harvard awarded 1,665 undergraduate degrees, 1,013 graduate degrees, and 5,695 professional degrees during the 2018–2019 academic year.

As freshmen, students live in one of the Harvard Yard dorms and dine in the famous and elegant Annenberg dining hall. With over 400 approved student groups, including extracurricular, co-curricular, and sports options, Harvard students are engaged on and off-campus. Student life is a rich and satisfying experience, whether it is playing on the field at Harvard Stadium, promoting entrepreneurial activity at the Harvard Innovation Lab, or writing and editing at the Harvard Crimson, the daily newspaper.
