University of Pennsylvania

The University of Pennsylvania is a private Ivy League research university in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was created in 1740 by Benjamin Franklin, one of the founding fathers of the United States, who was eager to establish a school to teach future generations.

Franklin argued for a higher education idea that centered not only on clerical education but also on imparting knowledge of the arts and humanities, as well as the practical skills required to make a living and perform public good. His adage that "well done is better than well-spoken" remains on today in the company's dedication to inclusive policies and innovation.

Penn's main campus encompasses more than 279 acres in West Philadelphia's University City. This campus houses all of Penn's schools and the majority of its research institutions, as well as cafés and taverns, a huge supermarket, and a cinema. Penn student life provides several opportunities to find new interests and passions via a diverse range of social, political, religious, and cultural activities. On campus, there are cultural centers and one-of-a-kind museums that allow the arts to play a leading role in student life, such as the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, the Arthur Ross Gallery, and the Institute of Contemporary Art, all of which are major cultural destinations that are easily accessible to Penn students.
