He Received FAI Gold Space Medal
For creating the first privately constructed rocket to enter orbit, Musk was given the FAI Gold Space Medal in 2010 by the Federation Aéronautique Internationale. At the recent NAA 2010 Fall Medals Banquet, FAI President Dr. John Grubbström conferred renowned FAI awards on aviation and space pioneers Barron Hilton and Elon Musk.
Elon Musk won the FAI Gold Space Medal, while Barron Hilton was given the FAI Gold Air Medal. The highest FAI honors, these medals are given to people who have made significant contributions to the field of aeronautics via their work, accomplishments, initiative, or dedication to the advancement of aviation and space.
The awards are given to recognize individuals for their contributions to or accomplishments in the various air sports disciplines. Those who have made remarkable contributions to aeronautics and astronautics, Sporting aviation, particularly in the sphere of sporting aviation, are intended to be publicly FAI medals and diplomas are recognized. Each year, they are presented during the FAI General Conference's Opening Ceremony.
