Heros de Vertieres

Heroes de Vertieres is an open-air sculpture park devoted to the heroes of the 1803 Battle of Vertieres, the first site mentioned on the list of the most beautiful historical sites in Haiti.

The Combat of Vertières was the final significant fight of the Second War of Haitian Independence and the final battle of the Haitian Revolution commanded by Jean Jacques Dessalines. It took place on November 18, just south of what is now Cap-Hatien.

A visit to the Heroes de Vertieres, an amazing sight that commemorates a significant time in history, is especially powerful for tourists from the Haitian diaspora. The monument is located on the city's western outskirts, a five-minute drive from both the Hôtel Impérial and one of our favorite restaurants in Cap-Hatien, Lakay.
