South Korean multinational beverage, brewing, and distiller company HiteJinro was established in 1924. More over half of soju's domestic sales are produced there, making it the beverage's top producer globally. In addition, it produces whiskey and a range of other alcoholic drinks. There are distilleries at Icheon, Cheongwon, and Masan, with the Masan facility focusing on exports. Moreover, a facility in Cheongwon is where Jinro makes the Soksu brand of bottled water. The business was purchased by Hite, a well-known beverage manufacturer whose primary offering is beer, in 2006.
