Hollywood Sign
Perhaps the most renowned landmark in Hollywood is the hillside Hollywood sign. The first sign was built in the 1920s to promote a new housing complex called Hollywoodland. It was never intended to be a long-term sign, and it finally came apart. It was rebuilt in 1978 and changed to simply "Hollywood," becoming a well-known emblem of the city.
The sign may be seen from numerous vantage points during the day when the sky is clear, however, this is a rare occurrence. Hiking or horseback riding in the Hollywood Hills is the greatest way to see the sign, and the guides know exactly where to go. The people at Sunset Ranch have a lot of info about other fantastic sites to see the Hollywood sign, and guests may take a guided horseback tour of the ranch's trails. This 2.5-hour hiking trip of the Hollywood Hills through Griffith Park is another excellent option. Photo opportunities at the Hollywood Sign, a visit to the Griffith Observatory, and the chance to tour several filming locations are among the highlights.
