Hy-Vee
Hy-Vee is a Midwestern and Southern supermarket business with over 280 shops in Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and soon Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Alabama. Hy-Vee was started in 1930 in Beaconsfield, Iowa, by Charles Hyde and David Vredenburg in a modest brick structure known as the Beaconsfield Supply Store, which is now on the National Register of Historic Places.
Full-service supermarkets featuring bakeries, delicatessens, floral departments, dine-in and carryout food service, wine and spirits, pharmacy, health clinics, HealthMarkets (natural and organic products), and coffee kiosks are the largest Hy-Vee locations (Caribou Coffee and Starbucks). At several of its locations, the corporation runs fuel stations with convenience stores, fitness centers, and full-service restaurants. Hy-largest Vee's store, with 108,000 square feet (10,000 m2) of retail space, opened on March 10, 2015, in Bloomington, Illinois.
