The Idaho-Oregon Buddhist Temple (also known as IOBT for short) is a Jodo Buddhist temple located in Ontario, Oregon. Founded in 1937 by a group of Japanese immigrants who were seeking to establish a place of worship and community for themselves and their families, the temple is affiliated with the Jodo Shinshu sect of Buddhism, a branch of Mahayana Buddhism that emphasizes the practice of chanting the name of Amida Buddha as a means of achieving enlightenment.

For years, the Idaho-Oregon Buddhist Temple has been a vibrant and active community center that serves a diverse population of Japanese and non-Japanese Buddhists, offering a variety of programs and services, such as weekly Jodo Shinshu services, Sunday school classes for children, Dharma study groups for adults, meditation classes, and cultural events (such as Obon and Bonenkai). Some people also choose it as a popular destination for weddings and other special events thanks to the beautiful grounds and serene atmosphere.

All in all, the IOBT is a valuable asset to the community. As one of the best Buddhist temples in Boise, it provides a place of peace and refuge for people of all faiths, playing a significant role in preserving and promoting Japanese culture and heritage.
