Independence Day

One of the most famous festivals in Samoa - Independence Day. Samoa commemorates its independence from New Zealand rule on June 1st every year. On this day, the entire country is in a joyful mood, with traditional dances, artwork, cuisine, and music available to both locals and visitors. Visitors may enjoy Samoan Independence wherever they stay because even the tiny villages get into the spirit of the Independence Day.

Following the commencement of World War I, New Zealand seized Western Samoa from a small German company stationed on the islands, and took administrative administration on behalf of the UN from 1918 until the country's independence on January 1st, 1962.
