The International Game Fishing Tournament is held in Samoa during the month of April. The celebration takes place over the course of a week, from the end of April to the beginning of May. Samoa is an ideal location for this renowned competition due to its availability of clear sky, beautiful waterways, and demanding game fish species.

They encourage everyone to come down to their clubhouse and enjoy the beautiful view of the harbor while conversing with their members about fishy stories, and maybe even jump on one of the Samoa International Game Fishing Association (SIGFA) boats during their monthly Fish to the Max and Junior Fish to the Max Tournaments.

The intriguing Fire Knife Festival is staged in conjunction with the much more well-known Samoa Festival, which takes place in May. The tournament is hosted at the Polynesian Cultural Center and is open to both adults and students in high school. Of course, various traditional cultural displays can be found throughout the festival. Fire Knife Festival is one of the most famous festivals in Samoa.

A ancient Samoan cultural item, the flaming knife is used in ceremonial dances. It was originally made out of a machete with towels wrapped around both ends and a part of the blade exposed in the middle. Tribal fire knife dancers spin the knife and do other acrobatic acts while dancing. During the dances, the towels are lit on fire, hence the name.

The Fautasi Outrigger Canoe Competition is one of the top athletic events in the country. This outrigger race, which takes place in June, has become Samoa's most popular water race. The competition starts on Upolu's north shore and ends in Apia Harbor. Each year, twelve long boats compete in the event.

Fautasi boats are around 100 feet long and can hold a 50-person rowing crew. A coxswain uses a drum to keep the rowing at a consistent pace. A captain is assigned to each fautasi. The word fautasi means "to build as one," which underscores the importance of teamwork when operating the boats.

Fautasi are primarily employed in racing events nowadays. Men who competed in the races used to spend eight weeks away from their families and other comforts, practicing with their captain. The races take place in June during the Independence Day celebrations. The Government of Samoa awards cash prizes to the top three finishers in each race.

One of the most famous festivals in Samoa - Independence Day. Samoa commemorates its independence from New Zealand rule on June 1st every year. On this day, the entire country is in a joyful mood, with traditional dances, artwork, cuisine, and music available to both locals and visitors. Visitors may enjoy Samoan Independence wherever they stay because even the tiny villages get into the spirit of the Independence Day.

Following the commencement of World War I, New Zealand seized Western Samoa from a small German company stationed on the islands, and took administrative administration on behalf of the UN from 1918 until the country's independence on January 1st, 1962. Western Samoa achieved independence as the first Pacific nation.

Tafesilafa'i translates to "face to face greeting." This festival allows the Pacific Islander community to meet face to face and share experiences, ideas, and resources, as well as break bread and be together. The event first took place in 1997, with only a few hundred people in attendance.

After their performance, they celebrate the long hours they spent learning their pieces, polishing their crafts, and fellowshipping with others. Second, an understanding of diversity. Samoa's main event is the Teuila Festival. During the Teuila Festival in September, a variety of unique cultural events are held, including cuisine demonstrations, traditional dance performances, canoe racing, and more. The festival usually lasts several days and is most common in Apia, Samoa's capital city.

The Siva Afi, in which male performers spin a giant knife with burning flames around their necks, around their legs, and over their bodies to the beat of a wooden drum, is one of the most stunning dance shows you'll see.

Throughout the week, male and female artists compete in group dance competitions, offering dance groups from all over the islands the opportunity to show off their greatest skills while having a great time. Traditional cultural dances with plenty of slapping, stomping, and clapping to more contemporary dance styles will be on display.
