International and Cross-Cultural Negotiation
Humans are aware that cultural variations are important and that they influence how people interact in business and leisure. But, exactly, what is culture, and how does it influence negotiating in particular? This course will teach you how to be more detailed about many aspects of culture as they differ from one location or country to the next, while avoiding simplifications, clichés, and stereotypes.
It will also help you become more conscious of your own culture as a whole. Furthermore, the training modules will help you understand when and how cultural differences are likely to impact the various aspects of a negotiation - people, issues, and procedures.
When you have that understanding, your awareness, preparation, and approach will be increased when dealing with negotiators from other cultures and areas. Your capacity to predict and respond, as well as your bargaining flexibility, will be enhanced. In addition, the course provides you a hands-on look at a variety of national and regional negotiating approaches (the course looks at the French, Chinese, North American, and Middle Eastern).
