Jacksonville
In Jacksonville, you can have the merry Christmas you've been dreaming of. Visit the Morocco Shrine Center for a glitzy display of holiday lights so bright you'll wish you had brought shades. Gather the family, buckle up, and go!
The annual Jax Illuminations light show transports guests on a mile-long trip through a merry Christmas experience that includes a 300-foot light tunnel, beautiful Christmas scenes, and giant shining trees. Trying to catch the main tree-lighting ceremony for the city? You'll need to go in the first week of December. A 56-foot tree at Hemming Park is decorated with over 78,000 bulbs and 100 ornaments. Another fun Florida celebration is called Deck the Chairs. Jacksonville Beach's downtown becomes the focal point of more than 40 American Red Cross lifeguard chairs. They add to the festive atmosphere on the shore by being adorned from late November until January. Along the north and south banks of the St. Johns River, the Jacksonville Light Boat Parade is another dazzling event. A fireworks display is held at the end.
