Since the year 2000, Jay Chou has been hailed as the "King of Mandopop" due to his uncanny ability to hold the attention of audiences all across China. This has earned him the title of one of the most famous Chinese singers of all time.

His parents, both of whom had careers in education, provided him with the resources and inspiration he needed to pursue his musical talents at an early age when he was still living in Taipei - the city where he was born.
