Jeju Island


Jeju Island is the biggest island in South Korea, encompassing 1,833.2 km2 (707.8 sq mi), or 1.83 percent of the country's total size. It ranks 1st on the list of the most beautiful islands in Korea. It is also South Korea's most populated island, with a resident registration population of over 670,000 in 2020. The island is located in the Korea Strait, south of the South Jeolla Province, beneath the Korean Peninsula. Jeju is South Korea's sole self-governing province, meaning it is administered by local residents rather than politicians from the mainland. The major road is 181 kilometers (112 miles) long, while the shoreline is 258 kilometers long (160 mi). Kimnyeong Beach is on the northern end of Jeju Island, Songak Mountain is on the southern end, Suwolbong is on the western end, and Seongsan Ilchulbong is on the eastern end.
