Joe Pool Lake
A freshwater impoundment (reservoir) called Joe Pool Lake is situated in the southern Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex in North Texas. Parts of Tarrant, Dallas, and Ellis counties are covered by the lake. The lake has a 31.3 km2 surface area and a 218,200,000 m3 capacity for conservation storage. The lake drains an area of 601 km2 and has a maximum depth of 23 m.
Southwest of Dallas, three cities are bordered by this lake that is around 6,500 acres large. Mountain Creek, a Trinity River tributary, is massively stored in the lake. It has developed into one of the leading recreational destinations in the area since it was impounded in 1986.
Joe Pool promotes all kinds of on- and off-shore activity. The easiest access to the shoreline is provided by three parklands that surround the lake. Fishing, swimming, and mountain biking are among the activities available at Cedar Hill State Park along the eastern shore. A campsite with more than 350 spots for tent camping and RV parking is also located within the park. Joe Pool lake is one of the best lakes to visit in Dallas.
