Kalinago Territory
The Kalinago Territory, previously known as the Carib Territory, is a 3,700-acre district in the Caribbean island nation of Dominica. It was originally established for the indigenous Kalinago people who inhabited the region. From 2006 on, the Kalinago Territory has supported the rediscovery and preservation of Kalinago culture, since then, the tourism industry in this village has also become the main economic source of the region.
At the Kalinago Territory, visitors will experience traditional indigenous cultures, cultural conservation groups performing at traditional stages, preserved basketry and pottery crafts, and To sell to tourists as souvenirs, they mainly sell handmade gifts, including traditional Larouma basket products. On the other hand, Kalinago Barana Aute is an interpretive center where visitors can learn basket weaving, cassava processing, herb collection, and calabash carving and there are also traditional cultural song and dance performances.
