Katy Perry is a singer, songwriter, and television judge from the United States. As a teenager, she explored a career in gospel music after singing in church as a youngster. Perry joined with Red Hill Records and released her first studio album, Katy Hudson, under her birth name in 2001, which was a commercial flop.

Perry holds four Guinness World Records, five Billboard Music Awards, five American Music Awards, a Brit Award, and a Juno Award among many more. From 2011 until 2019, she was named to Forbes' annual list of the highest-earning women in music. In 2016, her net worth was reported to be $125 million. She is one of the best-selling musicians in the world, with over 18 million albums and 125 million singles sold globally. Katy Perry: Part of Me, an autobiographical documentary, was published in 2012, and she voiced Smurfette in the 2011 film The Smurfs and its sequel in 2013. In 2018, Perry also began working as a judge on American Idol.
