Kent Nutrition Group
Kent Nutrition Group (KNG) is the home of quality animal nutrition brands such as Kent and Blue Seal. Kent is a brand serving the Midwest and Blue Seal is a brand name for the Eastern United States, from Maine to Florida. KNG's origins date back to the innovation of Gage Allison Kent of Indianola, Iowa, who in 1927 revolutionized the cattle industry of his day by using only quality ingredients to develop beef for Kent 34%, was named “Filler Free Feed” and established the quality nutrition that the brand continues to this day. Meanwhile, in Lawrence, Massachusetts, H.K. The Webster family has run a similar business model in quality animal nutrition since 1868 and Blue Seal quality animal feed line.
Both companies flourished, with Kent moving to Muscatine, Iowa in 1936 to take advantage of the economical shipping of ingredients and products on the Mississippi River. Kent and Blue Seal increased their product offering and expanded their market area and share in the 1980s. In 1988, Kent's parent company purchased Blue Seal. Both companies operated successfully as independent entities until 2010, when Kent Nutrition Group, Inc. was established. KNG has combined the thriving Kent Feeds and Blue Seal Feeds into a single business, focused on serving commercial livestock producers, horse enthusiasts, country lifestyle enthusiasts, as well as owners of small animals and pets.
To better fulfill its mission to be the preeminent and most trusted pet nutrition company in the region in the United States, in 2015, KNG implemented a new branding strategy, helping Kent to be the quality pet nutrition company in the Midwest and Blue Seal to become a quality animal nutrition brand in the eastern United States.
