La Liga
Spanish National Football Championship (Spanish: Campeonato Nacional de Liga de Primera División), commonly known as the Primera División in Spain; and La Liga in many other countries, is the highest professional football division for men in the Spanish football league system.
Run by the Liga de Fútbol Profesional, the league consists of 20 teams, with the three lowest ranked teams at the end of the season being relegated to the Segunda División and replaced by the top two teams and the play-off winners in that league.
La Liga is one of the most popular professional sports leagues in the world, with an average audience of 26,933 for its matches in the 2018-19 season. It is the sixth-highest audience among domestic professional sports leagues worldwide and the third-highest among professional football leagues in the world, behind only the Premier League and the Bundesliga.
