National Hockey League (NHL) is a North American ice hockey league consisting of 31 teams: 24 in the United States and 7 in Canada.

NHL is the premier ice hockey league in the world, and one of the major professional sports leagues in the United States and Canada. The Stanley Cup, North America's oldest sports title, is awarded to the team that won the end-of-season playoff series.

The current NHL champion is Tampa Bay Lightning, who beat the Dallas Stars 4–2 with four wins and one loss at the 2020 Stanley Cup Finals.
