Lake Loreto
Just like lake Biao, lake Loreto is another old crater currently covered by water, and surrounded by forest that lies from ancient times. And in fact, this lake is located in the center of the volcanic island Bioko. You can get here after traveling for around forty kilometers from the south of Malabo, or ten kilometers from the west of Riaba town. You will have to travel to the Bioko island by boat. As you come close to the lake, you will see the majestic beauty of the island.
Being a crater lake, lake Loreto is approximately 1,350 meters above sea level. Therefore, the trail to the lake is a trekking adventure that many consider being the most memorable experience in Rumbo Malabo. You only have to walk for 30 - 40 minutes from the beginning place to the lake.
Once you get to lake Loreto, you will be able to witness a breathtaking view of the lake and the forest around it. In the raining season, you can’t really see anything since there will be a thick layer of frost, but at other times of the year, you can fully enjoy the view, and even combine your trip with other activities like camping or swimming.
