Lake Mutirikwi

Previously known as Lake Kyle or Kyle Dam, Lake Mutirikwi is located in southern Zimbabwe, southeast of Masvingo. It is believed that Lake Kyle got its name from the Kyle farm, which occupied the majority of the area needed for the lake and was named after the Kyle district in Scotland, which is where Tom Murray MacDougall, a pioneer of the Lowveld, was originally from. The lake is the largest inland artificial lake in Zimbabwe and is home to roughly 21 different species of fish. There are many lay-bys along the lakeside where you may park and take in the view of the granite hills, miombo woods, and country life. The Great Zimbabwe Ruins, a World Heritage Site, and some forest are on the south shore of Lake Mutirikwi. On the north shore is Lake Mutirikwi Recreational Park, and at the dam wall, from the heights of St. Andrew's Chapel, there are breathtaking views up the length of the lake.

The primary form of recreation at Lake Mutirikwi is fishing. Visitors can also take part in events at the nearby Mutirikwi Recreational Park in addition to those taking place in the lake. Recreational park Lake Mutirikwi, previously Lake Kyle Recreational Park is one of the most picturesque parks in the nation, and one of its main draws is a healthy population of white rhinos. This place draUnaltered trees and a thriving game population are made possible by the lack of predators and elephants. On horseback is the greatest way to see the game. More than 25 different wild mammal species can be found in the Park. Buffalo, common duiker, eland, impala, kudu, reedbuck, warthog, waterbuck, white rhinoceros, wildebeest, zebra, squirrel, black-backed jackal, leopard, honey badger, rock dassie, hippopotamus, ostrich, crocodile, and porcupine are some examples of creatures that are frequently mentioned. Antbear, Bushbuck, Bush Pig, Klipspringer, Sable, and Steenbuck are some of the more uncommon species.
