Lake Kariba is the world's largest artificial lake and reservoir by volume. It is situated alongside the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe, 1,300 kilometers (810 miles) upstream from the Indian Ocean. Between 1958 and 1963, Lake Kariba was filled after the construction of the Kariba Dam at its northern end, drowning the Kariba Gorge on the Zambezi River. Kariba, a town in Zimbabwe, was founded for workers on the lake's dam, whilst other villages, such Binga village and Mlibizi in Zimbabwe and Siavonga and Sinazongwe in Zambia, have grown up to accommodate people displaced by the rising waters.

Before Lake Kariba was filled, the vegetation that covered the area that would become the lake bed was burned, resulting in a thick layer of fertile soil. As a result, Lake Kariba's environment is rich, home to fish like kapenta and tiger fish, crocodiles, elephants, hippopotamuses, and a variety of birds like cormorants and fish eagles. Lake Kariba, a particularly atmospheric and lovely lake, will undoubtedly enchant you with magnificent sunsets and dramatic landscapes.

Naturally, the wildlife of Kariba is one of its main draws. A popular activity is fishing for tigers, and numerous hotels and houseboats provide guides and/or expeditions specifically for this purpose. On Lake Kariba, viewing wildlife and birds are also popular pastimes. The best safari destination is Matusadona National Park, which is situated on the Zimbabwean side of Kariba Town to the west. But perhaps the thing that makes the lake famous is its distinctive landscape. Trees that have been submerged in water seek for the sky, their bare limbs painted against the blazing blue of the African sky. The lake landscape is a breathtaking view of blue and green throughout the day, and the sunsets are made much more beautiful when they are mirrored in Kariba's placid surface. The stars shine brightly at night across the unbroken expanse of sky, their fire unaffected by light pollution. Since its contentious beginnings, Lake Kariba has developed into a wonderland and one of the best lakes to visit in Zimbabwe.

Previously known as Lake Kyle or Kyle Dam, Lake Mutirikwi is located in southern Zimbabwe, southeast of Masvingo. It is believed that Lake Kyle got its name from the Kyle farm, which occupied the majority of the area needed for the lake and was named after the Kyle district in Scotland, which is where Tom Murray MacDougall, a pioneer of the Lowveld, was originally from. The lake is the largest inland artificial lake in Zimbabwe and is home to roughly 21 different species of fish. There are many lay-bys along the lakeside where you may park and take in the view of the granite hills, miombo woods, and country life. The Great Zimbabwe Ruins, a World Heritage Site, and some forest are on the south shore of Lake Mutirikwi. On the north shore is Lake Mutirikwi Recreational Park, and at the dam wall, from the heights of St. Andrew's Chapel, there are breathtaking views up the length of the lake.

The primary form of recreation at Lake Mutirikwi is fishing. Visitors can also take part in events at the nearby Mutirikwi Recreational Park in addition to those taking place in the lake. Recreational park Lake Mutirikwi, previously Lake Kyle Recreational Park is one of the most picturesque parks in the nation, and one of its main draws is a healthy population of white rhinos. This place draUnaltered trees and a thriving game population are made possible by the lack of predators and elephants. On horseback is the greatest way to see the game. More than 25 different wild mammal species can be found in the Park. Buffalo, common duiker, eland, impala, kudu, reedbuck, warthog, waterbuck, white rhinoceros, wildebeest, zebra, squirrel, black-backed jackal, leopard, honey badger, rock dassie, hippopotamus, ostrich, crocodile, and porcupine are some examples of creatures that are frequently mentioned. Antbear, Bushbuck, Bush Pig, Klipspringer, Sable, and Steenbuck are some of the more uncommon species.

Zimbabwe's Lake Chivero is a reservoir on the Manyame River. It is considered as one of the best lakes to visit in Zimbabwe. It was once known as Lake McIlwaine in honor of Sir Robert McIlwaine, a former High Court judge and the father of the land and water conservation movement in Southern Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). It serves as the city's primary source of water supply and is situated southwest of Harare. The lake was built over a period of 2.5 years, and the public may use it starting in 1952. The dam wall stretches 400 meters. Additionally, irrigation and commercial fishing use the water. Common grass carp, tigerfish, black bream, Clarias gariepinus, yellowfish, and green-headed bream are a few of the fish species that can be found in the lake.

One of the best spots in Zimbabwe to see rhinos in the wild is Lake Chivero. There are numerous white rhinos there that have had their horns removed as an anti-poaching precaution, and you have a high chance of seeing one if you hire a ranger to accompany you. The picturesque lake and rocky outcrops reminiscent of Matobo National Park are the focal points of the Lake Chivero Recreational Park, which is composed of high-veld woods. In addition to rhinos, it is home to a staggering variety of bird species, giraffes, ostriches, zebras, crocodiles, and wildebeest elands. There are also other prehistoric rock-art locations nearby.
