Lake Tangrela
Lake Tangrela is a stunning tourist destination in Burkina Faso. The presence of hippos in the lake makes this an even more spectacular place to visit. The creatures are extremely rare, and they never harm humans. There is a good chance of seeing hippos all year round and tours of the park are safe and usually reasonably priced. If you are lucky, you will also be able to watch a local fisherman casting their nets in the lake.
The very friendly locals are offering rides around the lake, however, one must be cautious because the flat-bottom boats are lighter than the weight of the hippos, so getting close could be dangerous as the hippos would feel threatened and will capsize the small boat.
The village itself is incredibly tranquil, with gorgeous granaries in every courtyard that is attractive enough for any tourist to start a discussion with a local and learn more about the traditions and practices of the village and nation.
At only 2 hour drive from Burkina Faso’s second-largest city, Bobo-Dioulasso, Lake Tangrela is the perfect getaway spot for visitors that would like to see the peaceful and relaxing natural side of the country.
