Ouagadougou

Ouagadougou, more commonly known by the abbreviated name Ouaga, is the capital city of Burkina Faso and also the home of the country’s administration and economic centers. It is also the largest city in Burkina Faso.

The architecture is uninspiring, and the views are unimpressive (save for the spectacular Roman Catholic church), yet the city is a veritable beehive of performing arts inspiration. Dance, live music, fantastic festivals, and craft markets provide for an unforgettable and gratifying travel experience, making a journey to Ouaga worthwhile. "The Bangre-Weoogo urban park in Zone du Bois (also known as 'La Foret') offers various walking and jogging pathways." It also has a small zoo (100-200 CFA for entrance) Bring binoculars to aid with the identification of crocodiles in the marsh near the bridge! The park is a natural preserve and "holy woodland" from the pre-colonial period. The Jardin de l'amitié Ouaga-Loudun (Friendship Garden of Ouagadougou) is a symbol of the twin-city relationship between Ouagadougou and Loudun in France, featuring a green area that was refurbished in 1996. It is located in the city center, at the "Nation Unies' crossroads."
